Did you read my Bitsy Bands post?
A shop that makes it possible for me to make these headbands in every color!
This is one of my favorite hand made gifts to give.
Not only are these fast and easy, they also turn out so darling!
Everyone loves tiny headbands, (or even adult sized ones).
What you will need:
glue gun
& glue sticks
elastic
scissors
ruler or measuring tape
embellishments! (feathers, boa
, ribbon, flowers...)
Step 1:
Plug in your glue gun, and measure out your elastic.
You can buy any color and any size from the Bitsy Bands Shop.
I am using 1/8 inch pink elastic in this tutorial.
You can use this measurement guide
from Bitsy Bands!
Newborn (13 1/4")
3-6 Months (14 1/2")
6-12 Months (16")
12 Months-Teen (17 1/2")
Adult (18")
Be sure not to stretch your elastic as you measure it.
I find that it works best if you lay it flat against your measuring tape or ruler.
I will be making a make a newborn headband!
Step 2 (optional):
You may want to seal the edges on your elastic. You can do this with any open flame handy!
Just gently inch the elastic close to an open flame until you see the frayed edges singe inward.
WARNING: If you get it too close it will catch on fire.
If you are afraid of fire, Bitsy Bands has pre-made headbands, heat sealed and all!
Can you tell which is sealed below?
Step 3:
Get your embellishments and felt backing ready.
I like to make my felt backing close to the same width as my flower/ribbon embellishment.
I cut a square, and then measure it against my cute embellishment.
Then just cut it into a circle!
Step 4:
Glue on your elastic.
I glued onto my flower first,
but you can glue onto your felt first and then add your embellishment.
Make sure it overlaps about 1/4 inch.
Step 5:
Attach your felt backing!
Step 6:
Oogle at your cute creation!
I don't have a tiny one right now,
but you can imagine how cute it would be on a baby's head.
Get creative! Add buttons, sparkles, ribbon, fluff!
Do you want to make one now?
Do you have someone in mind you could make some for?
Do you have your supplies?
YOU ARE IN FOR A TREAT!
