Red Hot Chair

Once again, Craigslist and my wonderful friend Lee have pulled through.  Check out this old chair she found for FREE off of Craigslist.  I don't know how she finds so many awesome things for free!  Well Lee just had a baby, baby number 4.  So...the carved details were just too much for her to comprehend.
She gave me the chair.  Thank you Lee!

I have had it for a few months, and last week I got sick of one of us always standing up to eat or trying to share a chair because we have 4 kitchen chairs and 5 family members.  I got the Valentines Itch, and decided on RED!

Just some light sanding with HEAVY GRIT sand paper to rough the chair up.
A quick spray down (2 coats) with Rustoleum in Apple Red and Voila!

I don't always spray paint, but this was fun and easy and I am so happy with the result!
Main thing, we all have a place to sit at dinner!
My kids already named it the Birthday Chair!

Cheers,

Picture Wall

For those of you that gave me advice on my Yellow Buffet post, thank you!
I decided to take the advice to keep my shoe bins red.  But still, this little buffet needed some sort of update.
What better way, than to make good use of old frames, and new family pictures

First I played around a bit with frames I had, trying to get them in the right place.
{that is why some are sideways}

Once I knew what I wanted the overall wall to look like,
I filled the frames with the photos I wanted!  Thank you Costco photo.

Now I love my wall and my yellow buffet even more!
A splash of color underneath, a collection of frames, all topped off with the people I love.

Cheers,

Fundraiser!!! {giveaway}

This is an experiment really.
Please tell me if you think it won't work because it is for a very good cause.

Many of you have read and are even following the progress of my cousin Ryan's family.
Their family was in a car accident Christmas Eve, 2011.  Their youngest son Colum passed away Christmas Day.  If you have followed their story, you have also learned that Colum's heart was just donated to another young child, and still beats today.  It is a tragic story, but also full of hope and love.  If you want to read more you can go to a blog set up by a family member.  www.kellypack.com

Pack Family

I have had this cute idea in my head along the lines of Subway Art.
I always wanted something by my front door that was welcoming, but also unique.
This sign below I made to let people know they were welcome, as well as say Hello and Goodbye at the same time!  In honor of Colum, I would love to give this away to as many people as I can.

So far, just two designs {below}.
One in color (gray, mustard, teal), and one in black white and gray.

If you would like one of both of these images.  I will email the file to anyone who donates $5.00 or more to the Pack Family Recovery Fund.

TO DONATE:
Visit the following link for choices on how to donate to the Pack family.

To receive your Greetings Jpeg image, simply leave a comment on this post letting me know of your donation, along with your email address.  You can also email us at thesassypepper@gmail.com your information.  You will be emailed a large file printable up to 16 x 20 in size!

Please spread the word, and consider donating to a very deserving family.

Cheers,

Yellow Buffet

Good Morning!

Thank you to those that gave me advice on accenting my Yellow Buffet.  I have decided to keep the red!  Instead of painting those, I just added some new pictures and accents above the buffet.    And I wanted you to see the actual color of my buffet since the other picture was a little muted.  It definitely catches your eye when you walk it!  Yellow is so happy.

My favorite part is the oval frame we inherited from Mr. Pepper's grandma.
It hangs on the wall now, and it is in a few of the pictures too!

Thanks again!  Cheers,

Happy New Year!

I am so excited about 2012.  Big plans for my family this year.
I plan on being COMPLETELY done with diapers this year once my little man is potty trained.
That is enough to be excited for for the next few years I'd say.

Anyhow, I would love to start off the year with asking advice of you all!

See below.  I love my yellow buffet! You can see the refinish project by clicking here.

See the bins below the buffet?  I love them, they hold our shoes and they are pretty to look at.  Win-win!
But, unfortunately there is no other red in my living room.  So, I am asking for help!

Should I...
1. Leave them red...it is the new neutral!
2. Paint them!
If I do, I am deciding between a cobblestone gray and a deep teal.
Any other color advice would be loved as well. :)

Thank you in advance!  Please leave a comment if you wish.

Do you have any 2012 Plans?

Cheers,
